John was born and raised in Schenectady, NY, a small city less than 10 miles from the state capitol. After graduating high school, John went to Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem, NC where he graduated in 1992 with a degree in Sports Management. While in college John was ‘The Voice of the Rams’ doing play by play and color commentary for the team’s football and men’s & women’s basketball teams in addition to hosting coaches shows with Pete Richardson and Basketball Hall of Famer, the legendary Clarence ‘Big House’ Gaines.
After a short internship at CNN Sports in Atlanta, he spent 10 years in various roles at CNN & CNN/Sports Illustrated. His career highlights include working at Super Bowl XXVIII in Atlanta, the 1995 MLB All Star Game in Arlington, TX, the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the 1996 Olympic Park Bombing, Super Bowl XXXIV in Atlanta, the 1997-2001 NLCS and the 2001 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament in Atlanta. Ultimately John achieved the levels of Edit Supervisor and Assignment Manager before leaving the television industry in 2002.
In 2002, following a new direction, John began a successful career in the mortgage industry in Atlanta, GA. While in Atlanta, John worked on one of the most successful loan originating teams in the state with a group funding of over $400 million in 2004 and individual production upwards of $20 million. After relocating to Miami, FL, in 2005 and in less than 5 years in the mortgage business, John ascended to the level of Regional Product Sales Manager-Assistant VP at Washington Mutual Home Loans and subsequently, in 2006, Emerging Markets Sales Manager-Assistant VP at SunTrust Mortgage. John is a member of the South Broward Board of Realtors, South Florida Board of Realtists, National Association of Real Estate Brokers and the Florida Speakers Association.
John's knowledge and experience of the mortgage industry as well as a lifelong passion for public speaking led him to launch his other career as an author and professional speaker. John recently authored, ‘Control Your Credit Destiny’ and the ‘Controlling Your Credit Destiny’ workbook and software set, which are slated for an August 2007 release.
John currently resides in Pompano Beach. He enjoys traveling, sports, the beach, cooking and as a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. he is involved in various community service activities.
